Wind River Water and Buffalo Alliance Call for Artists

Water is life. Buffalo is power. Food is healing.

The Wind River Water and Buffalo Alliance is seeking a graphic artist for the development of a project logo.

The Wind River Water and Buffalo Alliance is a coalition of Tribal agencies, Tribal councils, and nonprofit organizations working to advance conservation and protect the Indigenous way of life.

This coalition, based on the Wind River Indian Reservation at Fort Washakie, Wyoming, uses a community-centered approach to support food sovereignty, river restoration, buffalo restoration, advocacy, and education.

The project is an Indigenous-centered organization of the Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho Tribes working with Elders, young people, and tribal leaders. “An artist should convey the sentiments and energy felt when the Tribes are blessed with buffalo,” said Wes Martel, Senior Conservation Associate at the Greater Yellowstone Coalition. “Water is the gift of life and buffalo strengthen our spiritual connection to the power and energy they bring to our lodges, ceremonies, and well-being. Any artist who feels they can convey this message of hope and power is free to submit an entry.”

Indigenous artists are encouraged to submit a design.

If you are a graphic artist interested in designing a logo for the Wind River Water and Buffalo Alliance, please submit your design to media@greateryellowstone.org by May 15, 2024.
