Kathy Rinaldi
Idaho Conservation Coordinator

Kathy joined GYC in June 2014 as our new Idaho Conservation Coordinator.

Along with her role as conservation coordinator, she is finishing her second term as a Teton County Commissioner. As a county commissioner she has helped lead a community effort to create a new (post boom) comprehensive plan that focused on sustainability and won awards for public outreach. She also led a process to develop the county’s first economic development strategy that focused on sustainability, conservation and economic growth.

She was appointed by Gov. Otter in 2012 to serve on Idaho’s Roadless Commission and is an Advisory Board Member of Smart Growth America’s Local Leadership Council and former Board Member of Idaho Smart Growth.

Previously, Kathy was the Executive Director of Valley Advocates for Responsible Development (VARD), and advocated for the responsible development and sustainable use of the natural resources in Teton Valley, ID. She also worked as the Education and Outreach Director for the Jackson Hole Conservation Alliance.

Kathy has an undergraduate degree in geography from Illinois State University and graduate work in Conservation Social Science from the University of Idaho, where she researched the No Deje Rastro/Leave No Trace program in Mexico. Kathy is a former Peace Corps Volunteer and a National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) Instructor. Kathy and her husband co-own Yostmark Mountain Equipment and Yostmark Backcountry Tours, a retail and backcountry guiding businesses in Driggs, ID.
